When the Humane Society of Culpeper knocked on our door to help them
with their web site, we couldn't say "no" of course, also knowing that not
much budget was available to pay for the services. Web Weaver
Web Design has been offering "volunteer" services for a long time helping
the Piedmont United Way, SAFE, The Christmas Tour of Homes, The
4th of July Celebration, Adopt US Troops ..
and now the Humane Society of Culpeper.
We developed a new site around their new logo. Requirement was that
the Humane Society of Culpeper (HSC) could easily update the site
with new content regarding fundraisers, adoption events, spay/neuter
clinics and, of course, pets available for adoption!
Some features that need regular updates (like events) are controlled
through a database interface. Most of the other pages are updated
by the HSC with the use of Macromedia Contribute, for which
Web Weaver provided one-on-one training. The "pets available for adoption" are
shown through code provided by PetFinder.com, where all Culpeper
pets are also posted. By using this PetFinder.com
feature, the HSC is able to increase exposure for their pets through
multiple web media and submitting the pets only once.
When the project was done (a few parts still need to be finished) all parties were happy. HSC because they found
a reliable web designer who helps them out when necessary. And we smile every time we
update the Happy Tails page with all the wonderful
stories about people finding "the love of their life" pet through the hard work of the Humane Society of Culpeper.
